Cannahoney is the result of a man training his bees to produce cannabis-infused honey

As the only person to do it, the guy who taught bees to produce “cannahoney” (honey made from marijuana) is being hailed as a genius.

After publishing a video of his bees consuming marijuana blossoms, Nicolas Trainerbees, a French beekeeper and marijuana activist, became an internet phenomenon.
After training his bees to produce cannabis-infused honey, Nicolas, a 39-year-old Frenchman, gained over 10,000 Facebook fans and over 1,000 Instagram followers. Only in the last few years has he been able to successfully mix his passion of marijuana with beekeeping after almost seven years of attempting to do so.

Experts have argued that it is completely feasible for bees to produce “intoxicating” honey, despite some individuals casting doubt on the claims.

Nicolas adds that he has taught bees to execute a variety of tasks, such as gather sugar from fruits rather than flowers (1).

Honey Bees that Harvest Cannabis

Because the bees utilize a “training approach wherein the bees gather the resin and utilise it in the beehive,” Nicolas refers to the cannabis honey that the bees create as “cannahoney.” He says that only the bees are responsible for the finished product. The cannabis resin is processed in the hive much like regular nectar. I had known for a while about the health advantages of cannabis as well as the advantages of bee products like honey, propolis, pollen, wax, and royal jelly, the man stated.

The varied cannabinoids in the honey would have a little impact on anybody who consumed it, but not on the bees.

Because they lack an endocannabinoid system, the bees that make cannahoney are not impacted by cannabis, according to Nicolas. Cannabis is really simply another food source for them.

Real or a ruse?

Mirror News spoke with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust over the veracity of the cannahoney claims. Bumblebee Conservation Trust’s information officer, Darryl Cox, stated:

“Cannabis pollen, which has the potential to be intoxicating, might be collected by bees…

Pollen may be found in honey.

Having seen the film, I can say that the bees are searching for nectar, which includes a variety of secondary metabolites in addition to sugar and may even be intoxicating.

Because it is harmful to humans, honey produced by bees grazing on rhododendrons in the far east is locally known as “crazy honey.”

According to Cox, cannabis plants need pollen to reproduce similarly that nettle plants do, however pollen is often removed from honey sold in commercial forms.

Additionally, the British Beekeepers Association’s head of public relations told Mirror that it was certainly feasible to teach bees to hunt for specific chemicals; but, doing so would need a significant amount of time and effort. In order to train a bee, chemicals are added to sugar syrup so that the bees develop a liking for them.

He said, “I can think that if, for example, cannabis extract is mixed with syrup and given to bees, they may just be duped into hunting for it (2).

Benefits of Cannahoney

If you consider the advantages of honey and cannabis individually, you can be confident that the two of them together would have significant therapeutic potential.
Cannabis has consistently been shown to aid in the elimination of cancer cells, whilst honey is one of the strongest immune system boosters available and has potent antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.

Since a bee’s body produces the enzymes that transform nectar into honey, Nicolas claims that “anything that goes through a bee’s body is better” (3). Our body can more effectively use the cannabis plant’s chemicals thanks to this mechanism.

Consuming cannahoney will also aid in a little amount of physical relaxation. It won’t get you completely stoned, but it will give you a little buzz and help you unwind and unwind. As we all know, stress is the leading cause of death in America, therefore minimizing it is essential if we want to live long, fulfilling lives.
